Paris - June
spent a week and a half putting miles on my feet in paris with madi and our friends gabi & kisa. we spent a lot of time walking on the shady side of the streets and trying to find french food that doesn’t taste too french. we had a joke that when gabi ordered the andouillette at some traditional french institution (bouillon chartier), everyone left the upstairs area we were seated in. looking back, still not sure if that was true or just a coincidence - it really did smell like blood and hay. other than that, though, the food was great. it was such a treat meeting new people and eating cheese in the park.
we all went different directions after a week - I took some time to myself in copenhagen, but returned to paris a week later, where i took the majority of these pictures. I got to meet a photographer I really look up to, Kingsley Ifill. saw some of their work in person, and pick up their newish book, Holy Island, which I’d highly recommend. I also picked up Eel Soup, by Federico Clavarino & Tami Izko, which i’ve been looking at a lot since getting home.
looking back, paris really did it for me. i fell in love with belleville and the 19th, eating disgusting amounts of bread, and watching the sun go down over the canal at 10pm. hope to get back soon.
my favorite picture of the bunch might be madi’s earring getting stuck in kisa’s hair.. or the “do not piss” one… i don’t know.
