Copenhagen - June
I went to copenhagen by myself to take pictures and to sit in quiet parks. it didn’t get dark until after 11pm most nights. the streets were crowded, but quiet in comparison to paris or san francisco. it reminded me a bit of minneapolis in the summertime. i understand why a lot of people flock there this time of year. i was there while the copenhagen open (a skateboarding party thing) was happening. although i didn’t necessarily go for the event, i did manage to show up to a few events. i think one was contest hosted by converse in norrebro, and the other was the ending party along one of the canals.
i stayed in an airbnb next to a graveyard in norrebro. my host collected the hair from her brushes in her kitchenaid, and only cooked with a george foreman grill. one night she fell asleep on her patio (4 stories above ground) while cooking beef in the george foreman - it made the house reek, so i unplugged it. she never turned off the radio by the grill - it played old jazz music. that night, i fell asleep to the sounds of her snoring on the patio. looking back, i think i think she rented me her room, while she slept on the balcony for roughly a week. i dont recall seeing another bedroom in that house. she was a chain smoker and had a parrot named clara. she was probably 70 years old and had an incredibly high voice. she put flowers, a flyswatter, and a small statue of the titanic by my bedside. the place sure had its quirks, but i didn’t have the stomach to give her a bad review. she was too sweet to me.
